Abstract

Fittings for exteriors of buildings. - A storehouse, having several floors, carries rails on the roof supporting a travelling crane which projects outwards over a vessel or trucks to be loaded or unloaded. The crane, in addition to raising the load, also supplies power for manipulating an adjustable platform 17 which can be set level with any floor of the storehouse. The platform is adjusted through the medium of a winding-drum 29 and two ropes 32, 34. For raising the platform to a higher floor, the two ropes are wound in equally, and the platform is pushed outwards in passing intermediate floors, by the inclined surfaces 27 of supporting-brackets. On clearing each bracket, the platform swings inwardly into contact with the wall again, so that it can rest on the upper surfaces of any particular pair of brackets and be secured by pins 33. When lowering, the rope 32 is payed out more than the rope 34, in order to tilt the platform sufficiently to pass the brackets. The supporting brackets are arranged at all the windows on the side of the building so that the cage can be positioned and supported at any point on the face of the building.
