Abstract

Rack-and-pinion lifts.-Relates to motor-trollys adapted to move along a vertical or inclined track to raise a load and to transport the load by then running along a horizontal track. The trolly frame a has rollers r running on the overhead runway x<1>, the rollers being driven by gearing, including an irreversible worm-gear f, and a motor i mounted on a pivoted load-supporting frame y so that the motor always remains vertical. Pinions u on the upper shafts of the gearing engage a rack on the vertical or inclined runway (not shown), which is connected to the horizontal runway by curved portions. The motor may ba mounted at the top of the pivoted frame.
