Abstract

176,218. Craig, A. L. Jan. 26, 1921. Two-stroke cycle engines.-A flange 6 on thetrunk 5 of the piston works between the enlarged part of the cylinder and a liner 10, compressing on its up stroke a charge which has entered by the pipe 14 and which passess through a passage 18 into the lower end of the cylinder and mixes with more combustible mixture which has entered by the pipe 15. The double charge is further compressed on the down stroke and escapes past a valve 21 and through a passage 19 into the combustion chamber. The exhaust valve 22 is actuated mechanically.
