Abstract
176,072. Jupp, L. Nov. 22, 1920. Frame components, sections and forms of, and applying and combining; wheel forks and like structures.-A motor-bicycle comprises a frame consisting of long side members 11 attached to a front fork-frame 12, 13, 14, a front fork 42, and spring-pressed telescoping members 43, 48 supporting the frame, and a footboard 5 supported forwardly by the side members and rearwardly from the spring-mounted seat. The side members are carried rearwardly on the rear axle 26 and forwardly on cross-members 16, 19 at the lower ends of the fork-frame members 12, 13, and are curved at 56 to carry the engine bolted thereto by the crank-case lugs. The seat-pillar 7 is stayed by members 29 and is supported on a plate spring 28 carried by a seat-pillar hanger 24 serving also as a seat-pillar guide. The seat-rod 32 is telescopically and spring mounted in the pillar 7 and the seat is prevented from turning by links 34. The footboards 5 are carried on cross-tubes 18, 36, the former supported by the side members, and the latter by a vertical member 35 attached to the seat and connected to the links 34 by springs 37. The front wheel spindle passes through links 49 pivoted to the front fork 42, and through the lower ends of members 48 telescoping into members 43 pivoted at 44 to the head clip 45.
