Abstract

194,801. Jones, L., and Allcott, F. Dec. 20, 1921. Sheet-metal frames.-A motor cycle frame is made from metal plates by simple straight bending and is formed complete with leg-shields, foot boards and rear shields. The main member 1, after bending, is of inverted U-shape and is secured to lower side plates 6 bent to form supports 7 for footboards 8 and footboard extensions or rear shields 9. Front side plates 12, bent to form leg-shields 13, are secured to the steering- head and to the plates 6. The engine is secured between the overlapping portions of the plates 6, 12, and the fuel tank 24 is carried between the plates 12 on bolts 23 securing the plates together. A rear member 16, of inverted U-shape, is secured to the main member 1 and may carry a pillion seat. The rear wheel spindle is carried at 22 at the junction of the members 1, 6 and a strengthening piece 21. Inspection holes are provided at 25, 26.
