Abstract

Filtering-plant.-In apparatus comprising a filter through which liquid is drawn to a receiver by the action of a vacuum pump, an auxiliary chamber or lock is placed between the receiver and the pump, and has means for automatically closing its connection with the pump and for admitting atmospheric air when the receiver is full of liquid. The lock may be provided with means to prevent the passage of corrosive gases to the pump. The lock chamber a is connected to the receiver and pump by pipes e, d respectively. Liquid drawn from the receiver through the pipe e raises a ball h to close the pipe d. At the same time a float t opens a valve k to admit air. Grids n support material which will absorb corrosive gases.
