Abstract

995,227. Cleaning tubes. WESTFALIA SEPARATOR A.G. April 24, 1964 [Sept. 14, 1963], No. 17117/64. Heading F2N. Apparatus for rinsing milking equipment comprises an evacuable chamber 1 to which a milk hose 5 or hoses can be connected so that cleansing fluid can be drawn through the hoses into the chamber, a first valve controlled air inlet 14 in the upper chamber end which is opened when the fluid reaches a predetermined level, a valve-controlled discharge outlet 7 at the lower chamber end, and a second air inlet 15 leading into the chamber above said level simultaneously opened and closed with the discharge valve. The chamber is evacuated through the line 2 and cleansing fluid is drawn up through the hose 5 and associated teat cluster 6 until a float 10 rises to a stop 12 on a rod 11 and lifts the same to open the inlet 14. A pivotally-hinged flap valve 9, which controls both the outlet 7 and the second air inlet 15, is opened by the pressure of fluid once the chamber under-pressure has been destroyed by air entering the inlet 14, and permits complete drainage of the chamber prior to closing under its own weight, said secondary air inlet preventing any under-pressure developing in the chamber during and due to the fluid discharge. Once emptied, the valve 9 reseats and the cycle recommences.
