Abstract

166,365. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., (General Electric Co.). April 20, 1920. Vacuum tubes.-A rod-shaped anode 8, Fig. 1, is located within a spiral filament cathode 4, which is surrounded by a cup-shaped control electrode 9 of substantially greater surface area than the anode 8. The filament temperature is so adjusted that at a low anode voltage the electron emission reaches its saturation point, and a small positive potential is then applied to the control electrode 9 to produce a rising and falling characteristic as shown in Fig. 3.
