Vacuum tubes. - A valve has a cylindrical anode 3, a cylindrical control grid 4, one or more auxiliary electrodes 6, 7, and a cathode 5, the surface of which consists of material which provide.s a sufficient electron emission at a temperature materially lower than is required for tungsten; for example, part of the surface of the cathode may be covered with alkaline earth oxides. The electrode 6 may be a space-charge grid, and the grid electrode 7 an anode-screen. The grids may be secured to rods along their length. The electrodes are connected to contact pins 10 and to a cap 8 having a contact-screw 9. Specification 2111/11 is referred to.
