Abstract

Cut-out arrangements.-The galvanic action set up by the penetration of moisture into a cable is utilized to cause a current to flow over conductors in the cable so as to actuate a cut-out relay. The cable has auxiliary conductors 5, 6 of materials differing from each other or from the lead sheath 8 the conductors and sheath being separated by hygroscopic insulation 7 such as paper or cotton. The conductors 5, 6 may be wound in a single layer or in concentric layers. Specification 22355/12, [Class 36, Electricity, Conducting &c.], is referred to.
