Abstract

321,830. McCallum, J. Nov. 17, 1928. Insulating coverings for cables and conductors. -An electric cable or conductor is provided with an insulating covering comprising a layer or layers of cambric applied directly upon the wires and a layer or layers of rubber or rubber compound .applied on top of the cambric. The rubber &c. may be vulcanized. A separating layer or layers of cellulose composition may be provided between the cambric, which may be impregnated with oil and the rubber &c. or a layer or layers of cambric impregnated with cellulose composition. The cable may be enclosed in a braiding or serving of cotton, or jute and/or lead, steel, or other armour.
