Abstract
331,376. Hughes, A. E., and Liverpool Electric Cable Co., Ltd. June 19, 1929. Insulating coverings for cables and conductors; cables, arrangement and disposition of parts of. - An electric cable comprises a conductor wrapped with paper or jute impregna, ted with oil, resin, or wax and covered by a tape of cellulose ester or ether, the core so formed being sheathed with rubber or bitumen which is vulcanized. Fibrous braiding, metallic armouring or preserving compound may be added. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, a conductor 1 with an impregnated paper or jute cover 2 is wrapped with cellulose ester tape 3 which is lapped round the paper 2. A vulcanized sheath 4 of rubber or bitumen completes the cable. Fig. 3 shows a twin-core cable comprising conductors 1 with individual paper insulation 2 and a common paper wrapping 2<a> and is surrounded by a rubber sheath 4. Fabric tape 5, applied over the sheath 4, is wrapped with jute 6 on which beds armour 7, 8. A jute serving 9 completes the cable. Specification 321,830 is referred to.
