Abstract
325,210. Allan, J. E., and Freeman, S. B. Nov. 8, 1928. Insulating coverings for cables and conductors. -In order to protect against the action of moisture and oil, the insulation of electric cables of the type described in Specifications 296,684 and 321,696, in which the insulation consists of layers of tape coated with cellulose composition, or alternate layers of tape and cellulose composition, these cables are formed with a continuous waterproof sheathing of rubber or rubber composition covering the cellulose insulation. A continuous sheathing of cellulose or cellulose coated fabric tapes is placed over the rubber sheathing. In order to consolidate the layers of cellulose insulation, the rubber sheathing is vulcanized in situ on the cable. The outer sheathing of cellulose may be mechanically protected by tape, braiding, or armouring.
