Insulating coverings for cables and conductors. -The conductors 1 of an electric cable are lapped with cotton 2, and then covered with an indiarubber coating 3 which is surrounded with a woven or braided sleeve 4 of asbestos, the separate cores being then embedded in a cylindrical mass of tough rubber compound 5. The asbestos covering may be applied before the rubber coating, and the finished cable may be braided, lead sheathed, or armoured.
