Cables with strengthening means other than armouring.-An electric cable comprises a number of insulated conductors plaited with one or more cords 5 of textile material to take the tension and enclosed in a common sheathing 6, which may be of tough rubber. In the construction described, each core consists of metallic wires 2 wound helically on textile cord 1 or a number of individual threads and enclosed in a cover 4 of rubber compound or other insulating material.
