Abstract
883,699. Paper for insulating electric cables &c. WATSON Ltd., R. & W. July 2, 1959, No. 22820/59. Class 96. Electric cables are insulated by crÛped and calendered paper which is chemically neutral and which is made from wood pulp and/or manilla. The pH value of an aqueous extract from the paper is 6 to 9. The proportion of wood to manilla may be 40/60% to 60/40%. CrÛping may be effected during manufacture, using a horizontal crÛping knife, or after completion of manufacture of the paper, in which case gum arabic is used to hold the crÛpe. A conductor may be lapped by passing it upwardly through the middle of a rotating coil of paper.
