Cores for cables; insulating coverings for cables and conductors. - An electric cable for very high voltages comprises copper conductors b laid up on a solid core a of Karetnja or of other material having the same electrical properties as the material with which the conductors are insulated. The conductors b are insulated by a layer c of Karetnja or of other insulating material, 1, which is covered with insulating tape d, a jute core e, and a rustless flexible iron band f, the outermost covering being composed of a jute yarn laver g spun round the cable and double-impregnated with Karetnja.
