Abstract
329,561. Metallges. Akt.-Ges. Oct. 15, 1928, [Convention date]. Cores for cables.-In order that a cable comprising a core surrounded by outer layers of material different from the core, such as a hard aluminium core covered with unalloyed aluminium, shall not suffer permanent distortion under tension, a small amount of play is left between the core and the outer layer, or between the wires of the outer layer, or between the core and the outer layer and between the wires of the outer layer. The play is so calculated that the wires of the outer layer do not bear tightly against the core, or engage among themselves, until the core has taken up a certain predetermined tensional stress.
