Abstract
626,164. Cables. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 25, 1947, No. 8133. Convention date, March 29, 1946. [Class 36] The copper core of a conductor is coated with a layer of chromium before the application of synthetic resinous insulation. The chromium coating is preferably between 0.00005 and 0.00025 inch thick, and is sufficient to prevent oxidation of the core without itself becoming brittle, and may be applied to the core by electro-plating. Numerous synthetic resins are named as being suitable for the insulating covering, such as those described in Specifications 531,273, [Group IV], 534,159, 542,655 and 548,911, [both in Group IV]. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also describes a wire in which the copper core is coated with cadmium prior to the application of the insulating covering. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
