Abstract

164,738. Berthier, A. V. P. M. Nov. 20, 1918, [Convention date]. Machine guns. - Consists in a hand cocking- slide, for automatic guns, having means for locking it in the forward position when the gun is operating automatically. In the gas-operated gun shown, the piston 2 can be drawn back by a slide 6 operated by a handle 4 and having a lug 10 engaging a lug 16 on the piston. The slide is normally locked in the forward position by a spring latch 22 pivoted in the handle 4 and adapted to be disengaged when the handle is grasped.
