212,659. Vickers, Ltd., (Berthier, A. V. P. M.). Dec. 16, 1922. Machine guns.-A removable barrel A is locked in position by a sliding member B operated by a rotary pin C having teeth engaging rack teeth b<1> on the locking member. The invention is shown applied to a gas-operated gun in which the barrel-locking member B is part of the gas cylinder, the connection with the gas-port block a at the front being broken when the member is retracted to release the barrel. The operating- member is provided with a cranked handle C' which is retained in the locking position by a spring catch.
