Abstract

164,556. Trier, F. H. March 29, 1920. Closure members ; seats. - Relates to screw-down valves or cocks having valves means for closing off the supply to facilitate the replacement of defective washers. The arrangement comprises a rotatable hollow plug A, preferably screwed into the valve casing, and having an enlarged upper part enclosing the screw-down lift valve; the lower part is contracted so as to form a shoulder or seating making a tight joint at D, with the bottom of a recess in the casing. The lower part is formed with inlet openings C adapted to be closed by a quarter of a turn so as to cut off the supply. A stop pin E operates in a cut-away part of the flange B to limit the movement of the plug to a quarter of a turn.
