Abstract

162,260. Metzger, C., and L³tschen, E. April 19, 1920, [Convention date]. Superheating by throttling.-In an apparatus for generating superheated steam, in which the temperature of the liquid to be heated, and its vapour, is raised uninterruptedly to its maximum by the use of a flame, water current, at or after its conversion into steam, is throttled by a nozzle located at the hottest point of the flame. The generator comprises an inner and outer set of coils 2, situated in the inner chamber 6 and the space between the walls 5 and the metal casing 3, respectively, the whole being surrounded by a heat-insulating jacket 4. The feed-water is supplied to the pipe by means of a pump. The nczzle 7 is fitted at or about the inner end of the coil 2, which passes to the steam collector 8. The feed-supply and the intensity of heat supply are regulated so that the water reaches 100‹ C., its maximum temperature, at the point 7. Any desired evaporating-device may be employed.
