159,580. Guy, H. L., and Metropolitan- Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. Nov. 27, 1919. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Driving-arrangemcnts for scew propellers. - In geared turbine installations for ship propulsion, particularly in those employing a double reduction gear, a flexible coupling is placed between the slow speed reduction gear wheel and the propeller shaft preferably between the slow speed reduction gear wheel and the main thrust block. Fig. 1 shows a coupling comprising power transmitting members 9 and 10 secured on the slow speed reduction gear shaft and the propeller shaft, each consisting of a flange 11 with lugs 12 at right-angles to each other. The centres 13 of the lugs are equidistant from the axis of rotation, and in the same plane perpendicular thereto. Helical springs 14 are placed between the lugs with their ends secured to the inner faces thereof. Specifications 13019/06, [Class 110, Rotary engines &c.]. and 106,968, [Class 110 (iii), Turbines Ac.], are referred to.
