Abstract
159,065. Secord, W. L. Dec. 9, 1919. Vices.-A machine or other vice comprises three jaws, each pivotally mounted for angular adjustment and independently traversable by a traversing-screw. In the form shown, the bed a has an elevated surface a<2> which is slotted in T- form at a<3>, a<4>, a<5>, providing guides for the traversable nuts f, h, j, on which the jaws c, d, e are mounted. Each jaw is supported on a spigot, such as f<2> projecting from the nut f, and may be fixed in angularly adjusted position by a bolt m. By interposing a washer m<2>, Fig. 2, the jaw is held out of contact with the bed so that it is still traversable by its screw g although fixed in angular position. A square part f<3> guides the nut in its slot. Each jaw being free to swing round completely on its supporting spigot, the device may be operated to grip an object internally by swinging the three jaws round so that their backs face each other.
