REPAIR-STAND.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ELMER J. KELLEY, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Algona, in the county of Kossuth and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful' Improvements in Repair- Stands, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention has reference generally, to improvements in work holders, and
more particularly to repair stands especially adapted for use when repairing automobile The invention embraces a pairof disk like plates oneofwhich is rotatable-with respect to the other and on each rotatable plate'is arranged novel means for clamping a radiator or other object, novel means being also provided for adjustably connecting the plate to a main support, consequently forming an arrangement which will readily permit of an object clamped on the rotatable plate, being placed in any desirable position.
The invention also includes a clamping bracket associated with the main support and being constructed to receive a support on the stationary plate.
As a more specific feature, the invention produces novel means for adjust-ably maintaining the clamps in position and incidentally produces pads for association with the clamps. I v
Among the other aims and objects of the invention, may be recited the provision of a device of thecharacter mentioned with a view of compactness, the number of parts construction simple,
high.
Other and further improvements and. novel details in .the construction and arrangement of parts will be apparent from a the description to follow,- which for a clear understanding-of the invention should, be
considered in connection with the accom-- panying drawings,. forming a part- 'he'reota'- wherein the invention shown for. the
pose of illustration. .7 I 1 One practical form d construct on and assembly will described illustrated 59- in the accompanying" drawings;jin71whiche Figure 1 is a topplan view. offthe asseIn-- Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 33 of Fig.. 1, and

means shown in Fig. 1 and removed from the supporting standard. "L In Figs. 1 to 4 another embodiment of the invention is shown and consists of an upright supporting standard 23 having a base 24 to which is connected the standard 1.
The work clamping means comprises two disks 25 and 26 rotatably connected together so asto have a movement relative to each other. The disk 25 has secured thereto an elongated bar 27 which extends diametrically across the disk ery thereof, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. Upon each of the extended arms ,of the bar 27 there is slidably adjustably mounted the clamping member 28, this member consists of two oppositely extending and diverging arms 29 having their outer ends upturned at substantially right angles thereto, forming the gripping jaws 30. The arms 28 are slidably mounted on the bar 27 by a slotted body portion 31 to which-are secured the arms. This body portion has a thumb screw 32 threadedly engaged therein and is adapted to be moved into contact with the undersurface of the bar 27 for frictionally 'holding the arms in their several adjuste'd posi- It .will thus be seen that an automobile radiator or. other obj upon the stand by suitable adjustment of the by bringing the arms 29 into proper engagement with the object. In View of the. pivotal connection between the disks 25 and. 26, the radiator may be the'st-and to a con-f moved while clamped to venient position to be worked upon.
The clamping means. is ad ustably re-' .movably secured to the upper standard 23.by means of the spaced and pending end of the metrically opposite sides of, the 11 per end of th'e stand'ard 23 and are pivot thereto by-a bolt 34 extending through the flanges H To facilitate the securement "of, the clamping means,
mental blocks "35 are inserted between the blocks being and beyond the periph- I ect, can' be clamped flanges 33 projecting from the under-surfaceof the disk 26.' The flanges 33 are. designed to heat substantially d1 a'-j the complelot 3,
work in position,
details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims. Special emphasis is laid however, upon the rotatable plates with the clamping arms adjustably carried by one of the plates. Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A repair stand comprising a standard,
a plate rotatably mounted on the standard,
the other of said plates and adapted to lie on opposite sides of the standards at lts Witnesses:
weaves upper end, and adjustable means connecting said flanges together and adapted to cause the same to bind on said standard whereby the clamping means is heldin position.
3. A repair stand Which comprises a standard, a base for the standard, a pair of rotatably connected plates, the lower end of said plates being secured to the upper end of the standard, the upper plate having a stationary bar secured thereon so that its ends project outward on one diameter of the plate, adjustable clamping members slidably mounted on the arms and adapted to hold an object therebetween, each of said members composed of a slotted body portion having arms extending outwardly therefrom and diverging from each other, the ends of said arms being bent at right anglesand formed as gripping jaw, said slotted portion being provided with a set screw adapted to engage with the stationary arm.
' In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
