Abstract

Valves, arrangement of; valves, facilitating removal of.-Consists in a valve arrangement for piston pumps in which the valves and their seats are easy of removal for inspection &c. Figs. 1 and 2 show the arrangement for a doubleacting pump. The valve-casing f is bolted to the side of the barrel and is divided by a diaphragm into two chambers, in each of which are suction and delivery valves g, g<1>. The suction opening h is in a lower cover k and the delivery branch h<1> and the air-vessel q on an upper cover, both being secured by studs and nuts &c. The valve seats l, l' are removable and are held in place by the covers. By dividing the covers into chambers corresponding to those of the valve casing, the pump may be used to draw from, and deliver to, two different positions, for example, one end of the pump may supply tar to a. boiler and the other deliver the hot tar to a spraying-device.
