Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-Air enters the small cylinder b from the cylinder, through the port m, Fig. 2, or past the valve g, Fig. 1; then fuel is admitted through the ports n or e, and is ignited by the subsequent compression of the air, the pressure produced by burning part of the charge causing the expulsion of the remainder through the valve g or the ports o, m into the compressed air in the cylinder. The timing of the valve g or the piston l is adjustable. At starting, an electric igniter is used.
