Abstract

1515634 Spinning and finishing yarns RHONE - POULENC - TEXTILE 17 Feb 1976 [18 Feb 1975] 06206/76 Headings D1F and D1W Fancy spun yarn as may be used to make pile fabrics comprises a mixture of two types of synthetic fibre differing in composition length and titre. The short fibre e.g. 10-30% of acrylic, has a length e.g. 40-50mm, less than the minimum length e.g. 120-170mm compatible with conventional spinning apparatus for the long fibre e.g. 70-90% of polyester, and the titre of the long fibre is at least five times greater than the other fibre. The fibres may have been differently precrimped and perhaps preheated to set such crimp and/or the spun yarn may be (further) crimped e.g. by a knit heat-set, deknit process. The fibre mixing may be achieved at the sliver doubling and drafting stage e.g. during the final pass through an intersecting gill-box.
