Abstract

1494501 Spinning fancy yarn IWS NOMINEE CO Ltd 25 Feb 1975 [26 Feb 1974] 8693/74 Headings D1F and D1W In the production of fancy, decorative, marl or slub yarn, an array (roving, sliver or slubbing) of relatively short effect fibres is combined with an array of relatively long optionally crimped foundation fibres and the combination is drafted sufficiently to cause the effect array fibres to be separated into distinct portions and then spinning to form a yarn in which such portions are distributed, perhaps randomly along the length thereof Effect fibres which may represent not more than 12% of the total fibre weight are introduced to foundation fibres at a final (gill-box) drawing operation before spinning. The two forms of fibre e.g. keratinous fibre such as sheep's wool, may be of similar or different colour and/or nature and the resultant yarn, heavy or fine, may have the appearance and strength of woollen and worsted yarn.
