Abstract
286,275. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. March 2, 1927, [Convention date]. Yarns and threads; processes. - In the manufacture of yarn artificial silk in short lengths is mixed with Schappe silk of longer lengths and, after carding, the lap is passed through a breaking machine consisting of two pairs of rollers at a distance apart equal to or greater than the length of the artificial silk fibre the front rollers of which are run at a faster speed to break the natural silk fibres. The slivers so produced are then spun into yarn and woven into fabric which, when dyed, displays new cross dye effects owing to the fine intermingling of the fibres and to the fact that artificial silk and natural silk take colours differently.
