Abstract
150,746. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. Sept. 8, 1919, [Convention date]. Dynamos and motors combined for transmitting power.-In a power transmision system comprising a variable-speed alternator and synchronous motors, the frequency of the alternator is varied, during the starting period, in accordance with the speed of the motors in such a manner that the maximum motor torque is exerted during this period. An increased torque may be produced by increasing the excitation of the alternator. An asynchronous motor M, driving a ship's propeller S, is coupled to a governor V the operation of which controls the current supplied to a solenoid R. The solenoid core operates in conjunction with a spring F to control bv means of a valve E the supply of steam to an engine D driving the alternator G.
