418,409. Systems for transmitting mechanical power. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET, Vasteras, Sweden. Nov. 13, 1933, No. 31608. Convention date, Nov. 11, 1932. [Class 38 (iv).] Boosting by dynamo-electric machines.-In an internal-combustion engine-electric vehicle, in order that the load on the engine may be maintained constant, a compound wound generator 2 supplying driving motors 5 has its separately excited winding 4 supplied from an engine driven exciter 7 in series with a motor 8 which drives an adjustable load and has two field windings one 10 in series with the generator load circuit and the other 9 supplied from a source of constant potential, e.g. the exciter 7. The motor 8 is maintained at constant speed by loading it with a generator or a fan which latter may be used for cooling the engine. The speed of the motor 8, the field of the exciter 7 and the excitation of the winding 9 may be adjustable to control the load on the engine.
