Abstract

150,570. Haddan, R., (Westgate, J. J.). Nov. 25, 1919. Deflation of tyres, indicating.-Relates to a device for signalling when the pressure in a tyre falls below a predetermined amount. The valve chamber b contains a recess across which is stretched a diaphragm d, cup shaped as shown, and has a flange b<5> into which screws the lower `end of the casing c. A piston e within the casing is pressed on the diaphragm by a spring g, the upper end of which presses against an adjustable screw g'. To the piston is attached a keeper ring f', the upper inside edge of which is bevelled to hold a tongue h<8> attached to an arm h<10>. The upper end of this arm passes through a bail h<7>, and engages button h<6> which holds the mechanism of a spring actuated alarm bell h. On the pressure in the tyre falling to the predetermined amount the detent h<8> and arm h<10> are released, and the bail h<7> carrying the latter is pushed inside by a spring h<12> and the bell rings. The bell is adjustably secured on the wheel structure. The position of the keeper ring f<1> indicates to the eye the state of the air pressure within the tyre.
