Abstract

282,405. Tastenhoye, H., and Tastenhoye, F. Dec, 15, 1926, [Convention date]. Pressure gauges. -A device for signalling decrease of pressure in a closed vessel, shown for use in indicating deflation of a pneumatic tyre, comprises a whistle which is moved by means of a spring from inoperative to operative position (Figs. 2 and 1 respectively) when the pressure falls below a predetermined limit. The device comprises a tubular branch 1, for attachment to the valve stem of a tyre, fitted with a rubber &c. collar 8 for opening the valve to admit air from the tyre to a chamber 5. A diaphragm 7 in the chamber 5 bears against a disc 74 having a domed apertured head 71 which is normally pressed against a sleeve 101 carrying the whistle 10 to hold the latter inoperative against the pressure of a spring 103. The diaphragm 7 is clamped over the flanged outlet from the branch 1 in the mouth of which a movable disc 6 and a tightlyfitting ring 54 are mounted as shown. Projecting through the disc 6 is a soft rubber cone 62 with a stem 63 guided in th edisc 74. When the pressure in the tyre (and chamber 5) falls below the predetermined limit, the pressure of the spring 103 overcomes that of the head 71 on the sleeve 101 and the whistle is projected from the position shown in Fig. 1 to that shown in Fig. 2. The sleeve 101 is formed with a notch 102 to permit the head 71 to enter the casing 9, the movement of the disc 74 causing air to pass from the tyre through the whistle.
