Abstract

149,875. Brunot, E. G., and Chateau, E. H. F. Nov. 20, 1919. Dynamos, driving.-An internalcombustion engine having radial cylinders is arranged about a vertical axis, and a generator is placed above or below the engine and on the same axis. In addition, a fan is provided to draw air through the apparatus for cooling purposes. The rotor of the generator b is either mounted on the shaft of the engine a or on a separate shaft connected thereto, in which case one of the shafts is a continuation of the other. The engine is surmounted by a cooling-device c, and a current of air is caused by the fan d to cool the water circulating in the jackets of the cylinders of the engine. The engine may also be air-cooled and enclosed in a casing, in which case the air for cooling is drawn through orifices in the generator casing as well as through the engine casing.
