Abstract

158,361. Russell, E. L. Nov. 4, 1919. Dynamos, driving and cooling; cores and yokes. - An internalcombustion engine 20 and a dynamo 57 are mounted upon the same bedplate with a combined fly-wheel and cooling-fan 80 between them. The fan is divided by a central disc 80 and draws air through the dynamo casing and around the fan casing. The armature shaft 66 and crankshaft 34 are secured together by an axial bolt 68 with a conical washer 72 engaging a recess in the crank disc 36 and secured by nuts 71. The shaft 66 is also dowelled to the boss 64 of the fan. The water tank 86 is supported by sheet metal plates 87 which mav form an instrument chamber. The pole-pieces 152 of the field magnets are united to the casing 51 during the casting of the latter.
