Abstract

617,576. Dynamo-electric machine supports. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Oct. 7, 1946, No. 29921. Convention date, Oct. 8, 1945. [Class 35] A dynamo-electric machine mounting bracket, 1 which is described in its application to the mounting on an aircraft engine, has a rim portion 23 secured to the stator 7 of the machine and a radial flange 26 spaced from the rim by longitudinal supporting ribs 29 and securing bolt-holes 31 are provided in the flange between the ribs, these holes for ease of mounting being arcuate and having enlarged end portions 32 to allow the passage of the securing nuts which are assembled on the studs before the machine is placed in position. The machine is then rotated so that the nuts register with recesses 33 into which they are tightened. The bracket may be made of steel or of light metal faced with steel on the nut seating surfaces of the flange. The rim 23 is secured to the machine as by brazing or welding 24 and is curved inwardly at 25 to protect the stator field windings. An air shield 9 is connected to a source of cooling air and the armature core 14 and commutator 16 are mounted on radial ribs 13 carried on the hollow shaft 12. The drive shaft 20 is secured in the armature shaft 12 by a flexible coupling 21, a damping means 22 also being provided.
