Abstract

470,690. Motor casings. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES. Feb. 22, 1937, No. 5280. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1936. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXII] In a portable electrically-driven hand tool such as a drilling-machine the central portion of the tool casing which forms the stator housing for the motor is made of insulating material whilst a combined hood and handle and a gear casing and bearing bracket arranged at opposite ends of the motor housing are made of cast metal. The stator 2 is carried in a cylindrical housing 4 of press-moulded insulating material which is formed integrally with a bridge 9 carrying the brush-holders 12 and formed with a central aperture for directing cooling air over the commutator. A tumbler switch 11, the supply cable and an end bearing for the rotor 3 are also carried by the housing 4. The rotor shaft 7 is insulated from the current carrying parts by a sleeve 8, and a bearing bracket 13 of cast metal is separated from the motor by an insulating disc 20 having apertures for cooling air directed by a fan 22. The metal gear casing 14 and handle 18 are secured to opposite ends of the housing 4 by long bolts which allow easy interchange of the parts. The spindle 7 may be insulated in the bearing bracket 13 instead of by the sleeve 8.
