Abstract

431,539. Drilling-machines. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Aug. 9, 1934, No. 23054. Convention date, July 27. [Class 83 (iii)] In a portable electrically-driven drilling- machine, particularly for use in drilling coal and rock, at least one of the laterally projecting handles 3 carries a switch-operating lever 4 which swings in a plane parallel to the drill axis. A cooling fan 10 is mounted on the motor spindle within a protecting casing 9, the bearing 11 for the spindle being external to the motor casing 12 so that it may be renewed on removal of the casing 9 only. The current of air from the fan sweeps over the exterior of the motor casing 12 and also over the handles 3. The drill spindle 8<b> is rotated through a single reduction gear 6 and has its outer ball bearing located within a steel sleeve 7 pressed into the gear casing, the motor pinion 6<a> being keyed to a short shaft 8 which is coupled to the motor shaft 8<a> by driving pins, (not shown), and forms an extension thereof.
