Abstract

186,142. Kessler, H. G. June 20, 1921. Drilling-machines. - A power-operated hand tool, which is adapted for conversion from a reciprocating hammer to a rotary drill &c., comprises a main casing containing a motor which is connected to reduction gearing, and tool units which may be interchangeably applied to the gearing. In the example shown, an electric motor A is mounted in a casing B to which is attached a disc C carrying three studs on which are rotatably mounted compound pinions G, g, meshing respectively with a pinion F on the motor shaft and an internal gear carried by a sleeve H, rotatable in a detachable casing E. A earn K, secured to the sleeve, reciprocates a hammer P against a spring, rotation of the hammer being prevented by a square portion V. A casing containing a rotatably mounted chuck-spindle carrying a sleeve having internal teeth for engagement with the pinions may be substituted for the casing E. The motor drives a ventilating fan J and is controlled by a hand lever b through a link b<3>, bell-crank b<4>, lever b<2> and switch b<7>.
