Abstract

1,162,656. Percussive tools. SIDDONS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 10 July, 1967 [15 July, 1966; 27 Feb., 1967; 8 June, 1967], No. 31668/67. Heading B4C. [Also in Division B3] A rotary-percussive tool such as for drilling rock or driving pins or studs into hard materials, comprises a rotor 34, 35, having a track 70, 73, in which a striker 75 is movable, the striker being operative upon rotation of the rotor to apply blows to an anvil member 67. The rotor is rotated by means of an electric motor 27 via a gear drive 49, 50, 52, 45 and 41. The striker 67 is slidably mounted in a sleeve 54 which is rotatably mounted in a housing member 31 by means of a worm-and-wheel drive (46, Fig. 3), 57, the worm being rotated by the motor via the above gears. The worm-wheel 57 is coupled to the sleeve by means of a slipping clutch 56, 58. The striker, in the form of a sphere, may be arranged to strike the anvil 67 or the shank 63 of the tool bit " A " directly. The striker is held in the housing 31 by means of a retainer 65 held in position by means of spring-loaded ball (66, Fig. 6).
