Abstract

1376506 Rotary-percussive drills ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 4 Feb 1972 [5 Feb 1971] 5232/72 Heading B4C [Also in Division B3] A portable rotary-percussive drill comprises a split plastics casing 1, 2, an electric motor 15 which drives a tool spindle 33 through gear 21, a lay shaft located in a bore 29, and a gear 37 having a notched portion 36 which co-operates with a notched disc 35 formed on a fixed bearing support 24, and a changeover mechanism by means of which the notched members may be engaged or disengaged, the mechanism comprising a rotatable pin 42 having a face 44 formed in its periphery so that spindle 33 can be moved axially against spring means 39 when the pin is in the Fig. 1 position so as to disengage the notched members and provide for rotary drilling without percussion. A control grip 50 of plastics material is mounted on the knurled end 47 of pin 42, the grip being rotatable along with the pin, and the angular position of the grip indicating whether the drill is set for rotarypercussive, or rotary only drilling.
