Abstract

1366572 Power drills WOLF ELECTRIC TOOLS Ltd 12 March 1973 [22 March 1972] 13452/72 Heading B3C [Also in Division B4] The adjusting screw 22 for moving notched rings 10, 12 into engagement when percussive action is required in addition to the rotary action in a power drill is moved between its two end positions for operative and non-operative percussive action by means of a hand-operated control ring 28 secured to the adjusting screw by a pair of screws 40, the end face of the adjusting screw being drilled with a number of screwreceiving holes to permit the correct angular positioning of the control ring during assembly; alternatively, the limit pin 34 which co-operates with the cut-away portion 32 of the control ring can be correctly positioned when a number of alternative pin-receiving holes are provided in the drill housing. A flat spring 42 disposed between the control ring and the housing prevents accidental rotation of the control ring. When percussive action is required, the control ring 28 is rotated to the appropriate end position to cause rotation of the adjusting screw 22 and axial movement of the drill shaft 14 via a thrust bearing 18 against the action of a spring, the shaft being slidable through its driving pinion 16 and carrying the notched ring 12 into cooperating engagement with the fixed notched ring 10.
