Percussive hand tools. -A percussive drill or hammer comprises a tool forming an abutment for one or more plungers movably mounted in a rotatable carrier and means provided on the carrier for moving the plungers out of engagement with the abutment immediately after a blow has been struck on the abutment. The plungers or strikers 8, 9 are mounted in a rotatable carrier 7 journaled on the shaft 1 and are toothed to engage a pinion 5 driven by a motor 2 and gearing 3, 4, the strikers and carrier revolving within a casing 14 having a handle 16 and fitted with a drill &c. 13. Springs 10, 11 tend to move the strikers to their outward position. When one of the strikers engages the tool end 12 the carrier and strikers rebound but the continued rotation of the pinion 5 immediately pulls the striker inwards clear of the abutment and the forward movement of the carrier and strikers is resumed.
