Abstract

718,582. Percussive drills. BOSCH, GES. R. Nov. 27, 1952, [Nov. 28, 1951.] No. 30018/52. Class 124. A portable power-driven percussive drill comprises a plurality of sub-assemblies, including an electric motor, a gear group, and a group associated with a tool or tool-holder, the groups being detachable as a whole from the assembly and replaceable by another group without necessitating any change in the remaining groups. As shown, the drill comprises a body 1, an electric motor and casing 10 attached by bolts 18, a gearing group 30-33 co-operating with the motor and a spindle 2 on the body, a gear casing and handle, Fig. 3, and a tool-holder group comprising a casing 50, a plunger 70 attached to a driving rod 45 in the body by a pin 51, a spring 71, a striker 72, twist mechanism 53, 55, and a chuck 56. Each of these groups may be readily detached and replaced by a different group, e.g. a motor, Fig. 4 (not shown), or a tool holder, Fig. 5 (not shown). Clearing medium may be supplied to the tool through a tube 57.
