Abstract

462,993. Portable grinding-machines. WOLF & CO., Ltd., S., and RICHARDS, H. Oct. 19, 1935, No. 28893. [Class 60] [Also in Group XXII] In a hand-operated electric tool of the portable electric-drill type, a spindle a is driven directly by a rectangular spigot d from the motor shaft and a pinion g on the shaft drives a second parallel spindle b through a reducing gear h. The high-speed spindle a may be used for grinding, polishing, &c. and the low-speed spindle b for drilling &c. The spindles, of which there may be more than two, are supported in ball bearings in a housing e which is removable as a unit from the motor casing f, and are protected by spring-supported housings i. Each spindle is provided with a similar chuck or collet, and the machine may be provided with a reversing switch or plug to enable the motor to rotate in either direction.
