362,750. Grinding. L U M S D E N MACHINE CO., Ltd., BLAKE, E. G., LUMSDEN, W. S., and STAINER, J. H., Hawks Road, Gateshead. Jan. 30, 1931, No. 3065. [Class 60.] Disc apparatus; flat extended surfaces, surfacing.-In a grinding, surfacing, or like machine, the work is mounted on tables a<1> a<2>, which are rotated, through gearing, from electric motors f<1>, f<2>. The grinding-wheel k is carried in a head j supported by a column h and is driven by an electric motor n mounted on the head, and in order to bring the wheel k into engagement with the work, the head j is raised by a screw u rotated by a handle t and a rod v, and is swung on the column h by a handle y to the required position, where it may be locked by reverse movement of the handle t. The tables a<1>, a<2> may be reciprocated or moved in arcs of circles instead of rotating ; more than two tables may be provided.
