Abstract

240,408. Loewe & Co. Akt.-Ges. L. Sept. 25, 1924, [Convention datej. Work-holders.-A work headstock for a grinding-machine has means thereon whereby the work either may be driven on fixed centres or may be carried by a chuck, for internal grinding. The drive is taken from a shaft 1, through gearing 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, to a set of gears rotatable on a fixed shaft 16, and in mesh with the set of gears are corresponding gears which, by means of a draw key 11, may be clutched to, and rotate, a shaft 12 carrying at one end a chuck. At the other end of the shaft 12 is a gear 13 driving a gear 14 formed as a driving disc for work mounted upon a centre 15 carried by the shaft 16, the gear 14 being rotatable on the shaft 16. In operation, for internal work, the headstock is positioned as shown, while for grinding work on centres the headstock is turned through 180‹ about a vertical axis and clamped by screws 17.
