604,950. Trueing grinding-wheels. CHURCHILL MACHINE TOOL CO., Ltd., and LONGTHORPE, H. Nov. 28, 1945, No. 32183. [Class 60] In a centreless grinder having grinding-wheel a and control wheel-b, a crush roller c is carried by the work-supporting blade d mounted in part e on slide f, on which slide the control wheel head g is movable. To crush form the grinding- wheel periphery, the slide f is locked to the machine bed by screw h and the head g moved to bring the control wheel b into contact with the crush roller c, whereby the latter is driven; the head g is then locked by screw j to slide f which is freed, and the control wheel b and crush roller c moved jointly to bring the latter into contact with the grinding-wheel a which is driven by the crush roller; if desired, however, the grinding-wheel can itself be driven with a surface speed similar to that of the crush roller. To crush form the control wheel periphery, the crush wheel is driven by the grinding-wheel. The crush roller c may be mounted upon an arbor m, Fig. 4, in a bracket n upon the part e, the bracket being turned about a pivot n<SP>1</SP> when not required.
